About Joe Britto
For over ten years I've coached a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds: entrepreneurs, managers, personal clients in transition, Native Canadians and marginalized and excluded groups in the UK. I've now turned my coaching skills to environmental issues—a long-term concern of mine—and am working with private, public and third sector organizations to effect positive and lasting pro-environmental behaviour change.
While coaching I've worked with some of the hardest to help people. I've gained an understanding of how personal and sometimes social obstacles can prevent us from doing what we'd like to do.
My area of expertise is facilitating behaviour change among those wary of making changes. It's about helping delegates become conscious of their actions and the consequences of those actions. I draw on cognitive behavioural, positive psychology and quantum coaching techniques to realise an enduring cognitive shift. This unique approach has produced long-lasting results with a behaviour change in up to 60% of clients being achieved.
My passion for coaching comes from a personal commitment to do the best I can. To me, life's about living consciously. About making choices rather than going with the flow. About thinking what outcome we'd like to have, and finding what it takes within us to make it happen. Always in accordance with our values, always in a way that respects the person we know ourselves to be. The experience is as ultimately rewarding as it is initially challenging as we find ourselves doing those things we've always wanted to.
About Liz McKechnie
On an intellectual level I care about the future of the planet. But it's on a gut level I'm moved to take action. I have two teenage children and for their sake I'm passionately committed to promoting pro-environmental behaviour change.
For the last fifteen years, I've worked as a trainer and coachfor private clients and in the public and private sectors at every level from shop floor to Board. I effect behaviour change through a practical client centred approach that looks at individual motivation and personal branding in everyday life as well as in the corporate context.
For me, personal branding is about deciding what we really stand for and what our values are. Once we're conscious of those things we start to see the advantage of aligning actions with personal integrity. In my experience, this is motivating on a fundamental level and creates a strong commitment to the choices we make.
We become proactive rather than reactive in all aspects of our lives. We begin to realise our actions can, and do, make a difference. It's at this level we find the leader within ourselves and when that happens we literally start to lead our lives.
There's a mass of information about caring for the environment available in the West. It makes sense to change our environmental behaviour and yet many of us still don't. Some people just don't consider it. It's a stage often referred to as pre-contemplation—a time when we don't yet acknowledge there's a behaviour that needs looking at.
My work focuses on getting people from a stage of disengagement to contemplating the possibilities of change; to an integral desire to take action, through to the planning, commitment, and action to sustain change.
The journey centres on people finding the link between who they are, what they stand for, and why they'll change.
I believe our common guiding light is our need to survive and protect our way of life. This feeds our values, which in turn dictates our environmental choices. Anything else is simply a habit, a script, or a limiting belief we can change when we find it in ourselves to act.
